Why I chose to Homeschool

Hey there, my fellow homeschooling homies! Are you curious as to why I chose to homeschool my kiddos? Well, let me tell you all about it.

First things first, let me paint you a picture. Imagine me, a free-spirited, barefoot mama, frolicking in a field of wildflowers with my kiddos. We’re all holding hands and singing hymns at the top of our lungs! Okay, okay, that’s an exaggeration, but you get the point.

Now, why did I choose to homeschool?

1. I wanted my kids to have a more personalized and holistic education. My son has a speech delay, and homeschooling allows me to create a personalized, faith-based education that meets his unique needs and strengths. As a Christian parent, I believe that God has a plan and a purpose for my child, and I am grateful for the opportunity to homeschool and help them reach their full potential.
   
   
2. In traditional schools, children memorize information to pass a test. But in homeschooling, we can tailor our curriculum to our children’s interests and learning styles. Plus, we can incorporate nature play, spirituality, and hands-on experiences into our lessons.
   
   
3. Speaking of spirituality, I chose to homeschool because I want my kids to have a solid foundation in faith. In traditional schools, God is pushed to the sidelines, and kids are taught a secular worldview. But in homeschooling, we can integrate Bible studies, prayer, and character-building activities into our daily routine. Plus, we can teach our kids to appreciate God’s creation and live a sustainable lifestyle.
   
   
4. But let’s remember the practical reasons for homeschooling. No early morning rush to get everyone ready for school, no homework battles, and no more dealing with negative influences from peers. Instead, we spend quality time together as a family, go on field trips, and learn at our own pace.
   
   
5. “But what about socialization?”
   
   Trust me; homeschooling is much different than it used to be back then. My kids can attend co-ops, playdates, and extracurricular activities. Plus, homeschooling can allow them to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds rather than just their peers. Being “social” also depends significantly on personality, and people tend to forget that. I went to public schools but was still shy and introverted. My son, however, is not shy at all and will say hi with no hesitation. 

In conclusion, I chose to homeschool because I want my kids to have a personalized, holistic, and faith-based education while also enjoying the practical benefits of homeschooling. Plus, it allows me to live out my crunchy Christian lifestyle and embrace God’s creation with my family. So, if you’re considering homeschooling, I highly recommend it!
