Hey there, fellow mamas! As a mom, it can sometimes feel like we have a never-ending to-do list. From cooking meals to DIY art Pinterest art projects to keeping our households running smoothly and tracking nap and feed cycles with newborns, it’s easy to forget about ourselves. We tell ourselves, “Tomorrow I’ll jump start my exercise routine,” or “I’ll wake up tomorrow before the kids wake up to read my bible,” but by the time tomorrow comes, we’ve broken our word, and the cycle continues.
But what if I told you that adopting a holistic lifestyle could make your life easier and bring more peace and spiritual discipline? Here are some of the top benefits of holistic living for Christian moms:
1. Goodbye stress, hello relaxation: Holistic living is all about caring for yourself from the inside out. That means prioritizing practices like prayer and time with the Lord, meditating on God’s word, or even a relaxing bubble bath. By taking time to relax, you’ll feel more confident to handle the demands of motherhood without feeling like you’re constantly running on empty or debating whether to have your third cup of coffee.
2. More energy to tackle your to-do list: When you take care of yourself, you also take care of your physical health. Eating nourishing meals, getting enough sleep, and getting regular movement in can help you feel more energized and focused throughout the day. That means you’ll find more grace in your daily tasks without feeling like you need a nap by noon. This will also support you in feeling well-rested if your goal is to get up earlier in the day so that you can read your Bible.
3. Stronger connections with your family: As homemakers, incorporating a holistic approach isn’t just about taking care of yourself – it’s also about creating a supportive and nurturing environment for your family. You’ll set your children up for a lifetime of good health by modeling healthy habits like good nutrition and regular exercise. Plus, prioritizing spiritual practices like prayer or attending church will strengthen your family’s faith and sense of community. Also, your children will be influenced by your commitment to Christ.
4. A positive outlook on life: It’s easy to slip into negative thought patterns when you are overwhelmed. I have battled depression, and I know that when I stop taking care of myself, my depression grows. But practicing mindfulness centered on Christ, scripture, and gratitude can cultivate a more positive outlook. The more you study God’s word and spend time with the Lord, the more you can focus on the good things in your life, even when things get tough.
So, fellow mamas, why not give holistic living a try? Your mind, body, and family will thank you. (Philippians 2:1-5)
